A "brief summary" of our recent moments - English

This picture was taken in Geelong, a seaside town, on our way to the Great Ocean Road.
We think it's a fantastic shot, don't you think?
Ez a kép a Geelong-nevű tengerparti kisvárosban készült, útközben a Great Ocean Road felé. Szerintünk egy fantasztikus kép, egyetértetek?

This entry is for all those friends who don’t know Hungarian or want to practice their English a little bit. We haven’t written in English for quite a while. So our aim now is to give you an update of all the fantastic things that happened to us in recent times.

First of all, we got married! This was the biggest event in our lives. But all of you know about this. Leading up to our special day though, we had friends arriving from overseas. So this created a happy atmosphere in which we shared fun experiences together. We’ll quickly tell you guys about a few of these.

The first couple arrived on the 9th February. Andi and Ferás are their names. Andi has been our close friend, but we had never met her boyfriend. Ferás is a great person who we got to know and like very quickly. The first couple of nights sitting on the terrace, talking and drinking in candlelight were so much fun. Then we even had a casual ping pong tournament on another evening. We have a ping pong table set up in our garage so we can play at any time. This particular night was excellent. We took Jim Beam cola and Bacardi Breezer outside with us and even had a round where the girls were against the guys - and the girls won! Although towards the end we felt the effect of the alcohol, so we continued with some cards inside. It was great and you guys should’ve heard the great music we were listening to! The music was from one of my great music compilations taped from Hungarian radio stations. I have a nice little collection that I like listening to from time to time. :-)

On another occasion we went down to the beach and had fish & chips at a picnic table, naturally surrounded by seagulls. We took down white and red wine too. After eating we went down to the beach to wait for the sunset. We took some model pictures of each other with Andi near some rocks, having a lot of fun, while the guys chatted about who knows what. Then we rejoined them and noticed that the seagulls had formed an attacking stance in the sand. It was a funny sight. It was like they wanted revenge for not giving them enough food. It started to get very windy so instead of waiting for the sunset we decided to go. We went for a drive on the beach towards the city, even showing them the F1 circuit.
During the year it’s just an average road with absolutely no sign of what event is held there each year. There are no visible skid marks either…We saw that they were preparing for the race already. Ferás fell asleep so he missed out on this.
We decided to show them how the possums come out after dark in one particular city park. When we stopped we realized that there was live music in the park. So we strolled to pleasant jazz music in the background. We met plenty of possums who were quite tame, so some of them came right towards us expecting to feed from our hands! There are some pictures to prove it. Possums are Australian marsupials and look somewhat like squirrels.
Then we heard latin music, so we made our way towards it. All of a sudden we saw people dancing in the grass and having a leisurely good time. So we joined immediately, which was the closing song for the evening. It was a great ending to our day…

There was Valentine’s Day too. The second couple (Kriszti & Jani) arrived on this day in the afternoon. So we went to greet them at the airport. They were so happy to be here and they spotted every little thing on the way home taking pictures too. We let them rest a little bit and to freshen up, then we went into the city centre with two cars for a stroll and the Sofitel Bar on the 36th floor of a skyscraper. The bar is an atrium-style place and on the side there is a restaurant half a level down. The tables are right on the edge and as people are eating they can look down and out with no problems because there’s nothing but a glass window.
But the best place is in the toilets! That’s where the best view is. Everything’s marble and glass overlooking Melbourne. So we never miss that experience. This is where we celebrated our one-year anniversary with Dodi. Everyone had a good time drinking cocktails and talking.

Dodi got sick exactly a week before the wedding. So he got antibiotics and had to stay in bed for a few days. By this time Kriszti and Jani had left for Sydney. They came back three days later when once again Dodi was feeling better. I had to be very careful so I don’t catch it from him, so it was inevitable for me to eat a lot of garlic and drink as much freshly-squeezed orange juice as I could.

I took our friends to the Melbourne Zoo as well, which is set amongst beautiful vegetation. Every animal has a relatively bigger area and lives as close to its natural habitat as they could re-create it. It’s a beautiful zoo and I usually visit it once a year myself. Dodi missed out on this as he was still recovering. We should go there together one day soon.

That night we had a seafood and chicken BBQ dinner party on our terrace downstairs. We had music, drinks and by then my sweetheart was feeling better too. I remember how he didn’t want to eat one piece of garlic. We had to persuade him. A possum joined us too. It was watching us from above. Kriszti took a photo of the night visitor.

We had a big program on Tuesday, 21st February. We even hired a Toyota Tarago to go down to the “Twelve Apostles” on the “Great Ocean Road”. It’s a famous scenic route with curvy roads, beautiful ocean views, cliffs, rocks, adventure and a place which we stopped at to see if we could use the restrooms. We had to turn off the main road to follow a Bed & Breakfast sign. The road was steep and narrow and took us to an old timber house on top of a great cliff. The property had magnificent views, but it was like we were in a horror movie when we stepped out of the car and started walking up the creaky wooden steps. The boys stayed near the car for obvious reasons (a. they didn’t need to go, or b. they thought they’d sacrifice the girls if anything was wrong). On the verandah we called out to see if anyone was there. Silence. There were rocking chairs of course. Just like props in a movie. As the front door was open, we decided to step in. We were in the sitting room and dining room area and saw that the scenery was amazing from the other side too. Then Andi found the toilet, so just as she was disappearing a woman came out to greet us. She too looked like part of a horror movie with greasy hair. I pretended that we were enquiring about the accommodation. She showed us a couple of rooms and I was imagining how scary it would be to stay overnight in a place like this. So when Kriszti went to the toilet too, we were out of there. As we were leaving, there were two women looking at us from the verandah suspiciously wondering what we wanted. We left briskly. So this was our adventure on that day. The rock formations at our destination were amazing. I’ve been there many times, but for everyone else this was the first time. It was great to share this place with our friends. They mentioned this day to be the highlight of their stay in Aussieland and of course the wedding day – which you guys will soon hear about too…

That’s all for today!

Bye for now everyone…
